Please remember that every person living with environmental sensitives has their own journey. There are many paths up the same mountain. Please take what resonates with you, listen to your own body, and please don’t do anything that doesn’t feel right for you in the present moment.

Why is Cleaning Up Your Environment Important?

Cleaning up your environment will help you to avoid unnecessary triggers or contaminants. It will also reduce the amount of toxins that your body processes, which will help you feel better. Do this work slowly and mindfully over an extended period of time and ask your friends and family for support if you can.

Ways You Can Clean Up Your Environment

  • Use wired internet (or put your router as far from your living areas as possible (e.g., basement) and turn it off at night)
  • Use a corded home phone or VOIP (voice over internet phone) instead of a cell phone
  • Keep any cell phones off or on airplane mode with the bluetooth off, when not needed
  • Use fragrance free natural household cleaning products and laundry products
  • Use fragrance free natural personal hygiene and body care products
  • Use glass or stainless steel for water and food storage
  • Clean your home thoroughly on a weekly basis
  • Open windows to let fresh air in as often as you can
  • Replace your air filters regularly (e.g, furnace, air purifiers, etc)
  • Track your humidity levels and a run a humidifier if your home is beyond 50% humidity

  • Avoid perfumes and any projects containing chemicals or fragrances
  • Limit any clutter, which can collect dust and make it harder to clean
